Question

What is the difference between Gauge and French size?

Answer

By convention, single lumen catheters, like needles, are identified by gauge and multi-lumen catheters are labeled by French size. When used to describe the catheter size, both terms refer to the outside diameter of the catheter.

Each lumen of a multi-lumen catheter is also conventionally referred to by its gauge. Unlike catheter gauge descriptions, luminal gauges do not have direct correlation to needle gauge. To establish luminal gauge descriptions, catheter manufacturers test the flow through a catheter lumen and compare it to the flow through a needle of a known gauge. The flow potential of the lumen is then described as the lumen’s gauge.

Question

What barcode standard does Arrow use on its product packaging?

Answer

Arrow International uses the UCC.EAN-128 barcode standard on its product packaging in order to satisfy a majority of our customers around the world.

The UCC.EAN-128 standard utilizes a cross reference system. To obtain the product number for each specific barcode, the barcode number must be cross referenced. Customers must download the table into their scanner software. When a barcode is read, the software will see that the barcode is the UCC.EAN-128 standard and will cross reference the scanned bar code to the downloaded table to obtain the part number. Click here to view and download the cross reference file.
